Hydrogen fuel cell buses trial set for China’s streets

A team of researchers aims to educate people about the possibilities of hydrogen as a fuel by demonstrating the efficiency of fuel cells in two public transport buses that will operate in China’s North East. The University of Sunderland, UK, has joined forces with Shanghai’s Shen Li High Technology and local experts ComeSys Europe and AVID sustainable vehicles from Cramlington (Northumberland, England) to create ECO2Trans - the region’s first petrol-free passenger buses that will run on a fuel cell, battery and capacitor combination.

UK Regional Development Agency One North East has sponsored the £314,000 (US$525,000 approx.) project to convert the two Gulliver U500EUK buses bought from Mersey Travel in England, using expertise from leading edge companies in China, Germany and the UK.

Sunderland’s team is led by Dirk Kok and Adrian Morris from the Institute of Automotive and Manufacturing Advanced Practice (AMAP), who last year successfully adapted a Nissan Almera to run on hydrogen so that it only emits water from its exhaust.

The University of Sunderland is also looking to develop the next generation of engineers and technicians to put it at the forefront of green vehicle development.

Cuztomed Jet Turbine Motorcycle for Sold on Ebay

A custom Boeing T-50 jet turbine powered, Honda Magna, is for sale on eBay. The seller ask $8000 for his great job. The T-50 has 300 pounds of thrust, 400 with the afterburner. The motorcycle is thrust driven but can be converted to wheel driven. The builder seems to be the real deal, he previously built a turbine powered Porsche 928.

This bike is street legal and registered so that you do not need to worry to ride it. But, be careful what’s behind you when you spin it up on the street.

2009 Peugeot GeoRS 250

Peugeot present the new 2009 GeoRS 250. This New Peugeot scooter is equipped with four 1 cylinder cooled engine with a working volume of 244.3 cc Maximum power is 22 hp (16.2 kW) and maximum torque - 20.2 Nm at 6500 rpm. Weight scooter - 160 kg.

2009 Peugeot GeoRS 250 sold at European dealers in March this year. The estimated cost of 4 000 euros. Unfortunately, Peugeot doesn’t sell motorcycles at Asia…

Toyota Crown Majesta, Indonesian Cabinet New Cars?

As we know that SBY, the president of Indonesia, just announced his new cabinet. Several days after, local media reporting that this new cabinet will be facilitated with new car, names Toyota Crown Majesta. Well, we may difficult to find this car at local dealers. But, let see the details of this car from it’s home country, Japan.

The Toyota Crown comes in different models including a hybrid and the high-end Century and Majesta, and in its home market it is considered on par with cars the likes of the BMW 7-Series or the Mercedes-Benz S-Class in terms of technology at least.

This year, Toyota has introduced a modified Majesta, the first repeat of the car and considered the safest and most comfortable ever. Power under the hood for the Majesta is provided by a 4.6-liter V8 unit coupled to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The AWD variant that is available comes with the 6-speed automatic transmission only. The main revisions on the retiring model is a wheelbase that is 75mm longer and a number of safety elements including the latest Front-side Pre-crash safety system, Pre-crash seatbacks and a rear-seat center airbag.

Standard addition on the car is an electronically controlled air suspension which currently works in combination with Toyota’s Vehicle Dynamics Integrated Management (VDIM) stability system. Also coming with the car is a pedestrian detection system that is equipped with night vision setting. In the interior, the car is fitted with wood trim on the steering wheel, shift knob and ornament panel, together with multiple LCD display panels in the front dashboard and a hard drive satellite navigation system. At the rear compartment passengers are treated with a large 9 inch roof-mounted LCD panel and audio is supplied by a 19-channel amplifier and a 20 speaker stereo system.

Porsche Panamera Come to Indonesia

International sport manufacturer, Porsche, will introduce it’s Panamera to Indonesian market tomorrow. It’s a art of their program to penetrate south east asia market. The Porsche Panamera (Type number 970) is a four-door, four-seat luxury sedan, which was launched in 2009. It is front-engined with rear wheel drive, with a four-wheel drive version also available.

The Porsche Panamera production model was unveiled at the 13th Auto Shanghai International Automobile Show in Shanghai, China on April 2009. The V8 normal-aspiration versions of the Panamera have rear-wheel drive as standard, while the Turbo version includes standard all-wheel drive with PTM (Porsche Traction Management). Currently, trim levels include the base modelPanamera S, Panamera 4S and Panamera Turbo. US models include an engine start/stop system, and the Turbo version uses active aerodynamics with a multi-stage, adjustable rear spoiler.

BMW K1300 GT – K1300 S Handlebar Switch Recall

BMW has issued a recall for 2009 BMW K1300 GT and K1300 S motorcycles for a problem with handlebar switches. Please read the details below.

Problem: BMW is recalling certain model year 2009 motorcycles. The switches on the handlebars for both the direction indicator and the emergency engine off/engine-start functions may fail. In such a case, the directional indicator and/or the emergency engine-off/start functions would be rendered inoperative. In some cases, engine stalling could also result increasing the risk of a crash.

Corrective Action: Dealers will inspect and replace the necessary components free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided an owner notification schedule. Owners may contact BMW at 1-800-831-1117.

My little 1974 VW bus, I’ve got it in 2005, have a nice sparkling yellow and super white colors (all from speis Hecker).. Equips with power steering (cannibalism from toyota crown), melodic horn, two spots light. 34mm Solex carburetor, 1700 cc engine, 4-2-1 Thunderbird exhaust system, max speed = not known, as log as I drive my kombis, he could runs as fast as 2000 Toyota Kijang (in free way), perhaps it will be 120 km/h… 4 Mercedes Benz electric chair, sound system.. For next upgrading project, I need to change the transmition ratio. From 74 kombis gearbox into 77 kombis or safari gearbox…

Next treasure is 1969 1300 VW Bug

Cutie bug.. (my wife name it Miss Lady Bug).. Made in 1969 this car is a rare and unique edition. Transition decade from 1300 VW bugs into 1302 VW bugs. In some refference said that this model is the most unpopular model, because the price of this car at the moment is quite expensive. My bug, has spiecific color, sand white and ivory yellow.

Though it’s not a powerhouse like some of the other cars on this list, the 1967-1969 Volkswagen Beetle is instantly recognizable and could quite possibly be one of the more famous vehicles ever produced. Originally known simply as theVolkswagen Type 1, by 1967-1969 the German motor company decided to embrace the nicknames such as the “Beetle” and “Bug” that their car had received by an adoring public.

For the 67-69 Beetle featured a variety of improvements over its predecessors in addition to formally adopting it’s new name; a new drivetrain was included, the engine was made larger, and the electrical generator doubled its output as it was converted to a 12V system. Additional changes were also made to the braking system, clutch disc, and various other features, making the 67-69 Bug a functionally different car than anything that had come before, and it’s one on this list that won’t sting you TOO badly for vintage car insurance!.

Yellow Mellow Mio from Pangkal Pinang

Last week, I got an opportunity to visit Pangkal Pinang in Bangka island. And like other cities in Indonesia, it’s dudes also love biking very much. Yamaha Mio, the most phenomenal automatic motorcycle in Indonesia seems to be the most used matic bike in this city. Offcourse, I will not talk it if it still in standard original view.

It’s really my day when the day bring me to meet Beni’s full body costumed Mio. He almost totally costumed it’s body with fiberglass, putting so many accessories on it, chromed some of it’s lower parts, and finally he paint brushed his tiny bikes yellow mellow. Unfortunately, he didn’t mention how much money spent to complete his job. Well,.. good job Beni! we wait for your next creation …

Daihatsu Mud Master-C

This new design transporting concept car introduced by Daihatsu in Tokyo Motor Show 2007.It looks like a Dakar rally van that's been left in the wash too long. It's a true truck with a body-on-frame design, though. It's generous ride height and copious degrees of approach and departure angles mean that the Mud Master-C can actually go places while leaving an eency-weency footprint in its wake.

Daihatsu says that there are three gullwing doors on the concept, though they're really hatches, one on each side and one on the back. The truly neat thing aboutthe Mud Master-C Concept is that it's configurable. For instance, the mountain bike support model developed with professional cyclist Raita Suzuki (shown at right) is configured to carry a pair of bikes, but the concept can also be configured as an open bed truck capable of carrying an ATV or even a crane!

The Mud Master-C also features what Daihatsu calls a hub reduction system that transfers power using gears mounted between the driveshaft and the wheelhub. It appears the system allows the driveshaft to sit higher than the center of the wheelhub, givingthe Mud Master-C its impressive ground clearance. The relatively large 16-inch off-road tires help, too.

Inside the concept you'll find a dash that's comprised simply of one large screen that displays both gauges and in-car entertainment options. Being the activity vehicle it is,the Mud Master-C also features water repellant seats so that hosing mud off of them is not a problem. New Honda CB1100F from Tokyo Motor Show

Honda bring it's 1980 heritage motorcycle to Tokyo Motor Show 2007, CB1100F. It still bring it's retro style, almost the same with Old Honda CB which become a road king in Indonesia in 1970. Besides this retro bike, Honda also bring a retro-style racer (the CB1100R), an over-the-top naked bike concept (the EVO6), an automatic transmission equipped DN-01, CB1300 and CB400 bikes, and a maxi-scooter (the Forza Z.)

Honda has a rich history of iconic machines, and with this model—as well as its sister, the [LINK TO CB1100R] CB1100R prototype—it may be looking to cash in on that heritage. Styled much like the classic CB400F of 1975-1978, the CB1100F uses twin shocks, a tube frame and an air-cooled 1100cc four-cylinder motor that looks similar to the one in the Japan-market CB750 that was released last year.

Styling is tastefully vintage Honda. The blocky yet proportioned tank, like the minimal seat and perfectly curved headers are reminiscent of the mid-’70s Honda Supersports. Chrome fenders and mirrors make you want to put on a leisure suit and dance the night away, and the taillight housing and turnsignals have a soft, aluminum luster to them.

Yamaha Tesseract

One of the most eye catching bike in Tokyo Motor Show 2007 might be this one, Yamaha Tesseract. It doesn't like common motorcycle which only have two wheel, it have four wheels. Unfortunately, you look for it in Yamaha dealer for recent time. It’s just a styling concept and have not mass produced. Y

It’s not technically a motorcycle, and “Tesseract” sounds like something Scooby-Doo would say, but who cares? It looks incredible and has enough techno-jewelry to make the most jaded gearhead drool. Mounted in that spidery chassis is a V-Twin motor that’s the basis for a hybrid propulsion unit. Front suspension is something Yamaha calls “dual scythe,” and like the Piaggio MP3, the wheels lean with the chassis into the turns to impart that authentic motorcycle-riding feel. Like the Piaggio, the frontal profile is almost as narrow as a motorcycle, which would make this a fun and interesting street ride. The extra wheel will add stability, for sure, but also make this as likely to become DOT-legal as a Tiger tank.

Yamaha Bisonn

It has been discussed among Indonesian riders that Yamaha will launch a new 150 CC sport bike in 2010. They mentioned that it will beat Honda Mega Pro, Thunder 125, and may also Bajaj Pulsar 180. Well,… you have your own opinion. Let see this Yamaha FZ150 which guess to be the original Bison type. Before it brig to Indonesia, it will be launched India market firts.
The looks of the bike can be summed up in one word as ‘muscular’. While the YZF R15 poses a stylish and sporty outlook, FZ15 presents itself like a hunk. Like the R15, it has a mono suspension and a liquid cooled engine.Yamaha is trying to grab a bigger market share by diluting the Indonesian 2 wheel market with too many models.
